New Quilt!

I finished this quilt before I had the baby.
I didn't quilt it myself though.
I had Maureen at the local quilt shop do that for me.
She quilted it with swirls in an all over design.
It is a flannel quilt, top and back.  Very soft and cuddly.
The binding I made out of leftover fabric so that is why it is multicolored.
I made the quilt top a while ago.  Maybe 2 years ago is my best guess.
I was waiting for the right time to quilt it and for the right person to give it to.
Who is that lucky person?
My mom of course!
I gave it to her for Mother's Day.

It's Finally Finished!

Drum roll please....

I finally finished it!
I bought this quilt kit I think 2 years ago.
I made the applique blocks and the other center blocks right when I bought it.
Then I sat it aside because of some reason that I can't even remember now.
About a month ago I was working on a quilt for Alexa and was having some trouble so I found something else to work on.  I picked this up.
Well, lets just say that I sewed the top with the borders in under 2 hours!
I should have finished it ages ago.  It didn't take me very long.
I just quilted it last week.
I had some trouble with the borders quilting.  I think it was not smoothed out enough.
Or it was the batting.  I used Bamboo Batting and I'm not sure if I'm that fond of it.

Anyways, long story short.

This quilt was for my dad's birthday or Christmas gift, 2 years ago.
I gave it to him last week as an early birthday gift.
He really liked it and promptly used it right away for a nap.

Mission Accomplished!

Look What I Made...

I took two $2 candlesticks and two $2 jars from the dollarstore.

Spray painted the lids and the candlesticks with a brushed bronzed paint.

Glued the jars with Gorilla Glue to the candlesticks.
And made some pretty cool looking candy dishes!

I've been seeing versions of these on a few different blogs and they looked pretty easy to make so I thought I would give it a try.  I've even seen people use old pickle jars for the containers.  I've never spray painted anything before and I've never used Gorilla Glue but I think I may become addicted to spray painting and gluing things together.

The things I learned from this project are:

- wear gloves when you spray paint (duh!)
- believe the glue container when it says it triples in size as it drys and to only use a small amount (I got nervous and added more than I needed and I had to pick off the extra this morning because it was all goopy)
- for $8 (not including the glue or paint) I have some custom candy dishes!  Sweet!
- I think these could make some really nice gifts.  Imagine them filled with bath stuff or filling it with stickers/erasers, etc. and giving it for a teacher's gift.

Oh boy, I have lots of ideas running through my head now!
What ideas can you think of?

Crafty Thursday

Hallelujah, I finished it.
It wasn't that difficult to make, I'm just happy I got it finished.
I made this for a fellow mommy friend who is about to have her 3rd baby.
I love the colors.  Pink with the orange and yellow.
Who knew?!
It's hard to tell in this picture but I quilted it with a light pink thread in a curvy line design.
The back fabric is a light pink flannel.
I used the Yellow Brick Road pattern again but I didn't add the borders.
All I had was the fat quarters but I really liked how it turned out without the borders.

Valentines

These are the valentines that I made for Lexie to give out at playschool.
I wanted to try making something with the Silhouette SD that I managed to score as a sweet deal before Christmas.  You can get it to cut little bags out of paper!
I think this is my new favorite toy.
I love how you don't have to purchase cartridges, you can just download the images that you want.
And they start at 99 cents!  But I have never seen one more than $1.50.
I am super excited!

Crafty Thursday - Tuesday Edition

So with my craft room 3/4 organized and cleaned I felt like sewing again.
I picked up the fabric in the left hand part of the picture last Thursday.

I then proceeded to turn it into the below baby quilt.
It took me 2 and a half hours to make the top.
From cutting to sewing.
I even messed up the pattern but I still managed to get it to work.
Thank goodness, because I had a small panic attack when I first realized.

I hope my sister and brother-in-law like it.
Can you guess what they're having!

P.S.  Stay tuned for what happens with the other fabric.

Project Life

If you have no idea what I'm talking about
or you do and want to see something inspiring,
check this out:

Project Life - Becky's Style

It is the "new" way to scrapbook.
Easy, fun, and fast.
She makes beautiful products.
What to know more about Project Life?
Check out this video also:

Also to the left hand side of the screen is more tabs with lots of information.
I did my own version of Project Life last year with a binder that I already had.
I'll show pictures of that soon.
I swear that if you scrapbook and you always wish you had time to do it, then you'll be sold on scrapbooking this way whether it is your own version or whether you buy the kit.
This year I treated myself and ordered the kit!
I would love to get a group together so we could all work on our "Project Life".
We could meet once a month and visit, etc.
Let me know here or on Facebook.

Crafty Thursday

This is what I am working on this week.
Two small tummy quilts.
They are about 25" X 25".
I am figuring that I'll have them done by the end of Thursday.
Now that is a challenge to myself.
No nap, today!

P.S.  Check out the baby counter thing.  It has arms and legs now!
Thank goodness.  It was looking kind of weird there for a bit.

Crafty Thursday

Most people that know me, know that on Thursday Night it's my craft night.
Or quilting night, or scrapbooking night, or movie night or plain old shopping night.
Whatever tickles my fancy.
It's also called Mommy Night or Daddy and the Chickies Night.
It's a time to have a girls night to do fun stuff.
I'm so lucky to have a husband that understands how important it is not to let the wife get too cabin crazy!
So thanks honey!

I've decided that on Thursdays I'll post a picture of what I'm working on or have finished.
I'd love to hear comments, suggestions, etc.

This is Crafty Thursday's Pic:

A special little girl is getting this for Christmas!

A Fun Little Craft

This may look complicated but I swear it isn't.  And who doesn't love owls!  I made this for a friend of Lexie's for her birthday.  I personally think that she is going to freak out when she sees it.  Owls are her favorite thing.  If you want to try making one of these check out the following:
